Is it scrumptious!?

It's Gollum!

All this time collecting and painting LOTR figures and I only ever managed to find Gollum on a rock eating a fish. Cute but not a very dynamic pose for general game use...

I finally grabbed the 'climbing across rocks pose' of the LOTR releases, not the recent Hobbit releases... from a trademe win... stripped it back and repainted it...

The old villain himself!

It was a real treat watching Andy Serkis revisit the character for the Hobbit movie, just wonderful. And of course Martin Freeman's interaction with him as Bilbo, was an absolute pleasure...

We, as family have now watched the Hobbit movies multiple times beyond count and my daughter does a brilliant Gollum impersonation... I'll have to video and upload it for you all to have a chuckle ... She's got a cold at the moment so may have to wait a few days till she's better!

    1. He's an odd character in the games... he can only be used when Frodo is also involved, and then there are special rules about their interaction... of course there's no reason you couldn't come up with your own scenarios concerning him... He's just not really the sort of character you add to your army...

  4. I'm going to sound strange here, and also show that I'm not a real Tolkien aficionado, but I can's stand Gollum! Every time he appears in the films my heart sinks and I can't wait to get onto another scene!

    1. He's certainly a quirky character and perhaps I guess you either love or loath him!?
The only other Gollum I have seen was the cartoon one from Ralph Bakshis cartoon movie... Can't say I was that thrilled with him though there were some fun moments...

  5. A great rendition of the character; from the sickly skin tone to the scraggly hair.

  7. A bit of information . . . Peter Jackson wasn't thrilled with the rendition of Gollum in the first LoTR movie and the son of a friend of ours, Bay Raitt, on his own time came up with what they ended up using visually.

That being said, it is certainly Andy Serkis performance that brings Gollum to life . . . and your version of him on the rock is splendid.

    1. That's interesting Jeff... there is certainly very little to see of him in FOTR... perhaps that's why?

Very true, and thank you :-)

  10. I can just agree with the others : excellent !
Gollum eating the fish is a good figure too but difficult to paint, especially the ... fish !
Sam and Frodo of the same set ( Sam cooking and Frodo resting ) are also good figures!

  11. Nice result on that Gollum. Looks excellent.
Interesting how the sculpter ended up with him crawling over rocks. A good idea really for a figure that is no doubt really small on the table.
    cheers

    1. It does give him a bit of presence, and I rather like the pose, and face, it really looks like he's up to mischief!
